It is with great sadness and sense of loss that we share the news of the untimely passing of one of our former colleagues, Lonnie Pham, on October 23.

During each election, Miramar College is a polling location for the San Diego Registrar of Voters. Ballots can be cast or dropped off on campus. The polling place is located in K1-107 on the ground floor of the K1-Student Services Building. For Dominick Ramos, every month is Latinx/Chicanx Heritage Month. Ramos a college service officer assigned to the Educational Cultural Complex, is a second-generation American whose grandparents moved to the Coachella Valley from Monterrey, Mexico, a half century ago.

What does Latinx/Chicanx Heritage Month mean to him? “It’s about honoring the Hispanic communities and their role in building the United States and in contributing to the culture.”

CBS 8 visited campus on Sept. 26 to explore the finds of a recent audit. That audit found that 1 in 5 California community college students, from 2017-2019, successfully transferred to a 4-year institution. Vice President of Student Services Adrian Gonzales explained what Miramar College is doing to improve on those outcomes.
