Alethia Forsing was working as a Starbucks barista when she caught wind of the San Diego Miramar College Aeronautics and Aviation Program that’s been training avionic technicians, aviation mechanics, airport personnel, and future pilots for generations.
LaChaune DuHart has been hired as Miramar College’s first ever Director of Veterans Affairs and Military Education, overseeing both the Veterans Resource Center (VRC) and Marine Corps Air Station operations. DuHart will officially join the College on Monday, June 2, 2025.
Miramar College awarded deserving students just over $277,000 at its 31st annual scholarship awards ceremony held April 28 in L-105. Miramar College students, their guests and families, along with the College’s classified professional staff and faculty, San Diego Community College District officials and community partners gathered for the celebration.
For more than a decade, Active Minds’ acclaimed Send Silence Packing® exhibit has traveled the country to end the silence that surrounds mental health and suicide and connect visitors with resources for support and action.
The 2025 display will be at SDCCD Miramar College all day on the Quad on April 24, 2025.

On Wednesday, April 16 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. the San Diego Community College District (SDCCD) will welcome a diverse range of employers for its third annual districtwide Career Fair, ranging from city departments to top healthcare organizations. The event will be held outside Compass Point at Miramar College (10440 Black Mountain Rd., 92126) with nearly 400 SDCCD students, alumni, and community members expected to participate.
In March, the San Diego City Council celebrated Women's History Month and the importance women have had in our country's history. Women's History Month acknowledges the achievements of women, the barriers that have been broken, and the challenges that still remain in the face of gender inequality.
