For the 2024-2025 academic year, Miramar College will confer 1,442 degrees and another 691 Certificate of Achievements for a total of 2,133 awards. The total number of associate degrees awarded represents a 17% increase over last year.

Of the 1,442 associate degrees to be conferred, 644, or 44%, will be Associate Degrees for Transfer (ADT), thus demonstrating that Miramar College will have prepared nearly half its degree earning students for transfer to a 4-year university. Miramar College students earned 19% more ADT’s this year than last academic year.

Two-hundred and thirty-nine first generation college students will also receive their degree. This marks the second consecutive year that Miramar College has graduated more than 200 first generation college students.

Sixty-eight associate degree graduates have achieved a perfect 4.0 GPA over their studies at Miramar College.

Three-hundred-eighty-five students have registered to attend the ceremony to hear their names called.

“I am elated that Miramar College continues to trend in a positive direction when it comes to degree completion,” said Dr. Wesley Lundburg, president of San Diego Miramar College. “These positive outcomes are a testament to the incredible work our faculty, staff and students have done. Just seeing the number of first generation college graduates remain steady or tick up warms my heart. I am grateful that our students have entrusted Miramar College to assist them in their educational journey. I wish them all great success in the future.”

Savannah Frank will provide the student address. Frank is receiving an associate degree in Administration of Justice for Transfer. Frank is an honors student and an EOPS student who grew up witnessing the painful cycles of recidivism and systemic injustice and who now has become a vocal advocate for justice reform.

For the first time, seven incarcerated students at the Naval Consolidated Brig, located at Marine Corp Air Station Miramar (MCAS), will graduate with a Certificate of Achievement in Entrepreneurship. These students are part of the Miramar College Rising Scholars program, which offers educational opportunities to current and formerly incarcerated students.

The Miramar Naval Consolidated Brig is one of only three military prisons in the United States that houses members of all military branches.
