We provide free tutoring to all SDCCD students (City, Mesa, and Miramar) who are enrolled this summer.  

We are here to help you develop the skills needed to succeed in your academic journey.

Our in-person tutoring is available this summer, Monday through Thursday, from June 15, 2026 to August 6, 2026 (excluding weekends and sanctioned holidays).  The information about in-person tutoring is under the "In-Person Tutoring" tab below.  We have two centers to serve you:  ASC (L-101) and Math Lab (M-210).  

Our online tutoring is through NetTutor, from June 15, 2026 to August 6, 2026.  The information about online tutoring is under the "Online Tutoring" tab below.

Our assignment drop-off service is available this summer, from June 15, 2026, to August 4, 2026 (excluding weekends and sanctioned holidays).  The information about this service is under the "Assignment Drop-Off" tab below.

The ASC is a welcoming and inclusive center that provides academic support programs and services to increase student retention and success for our diverse student population. Through tutorial services, collaborations, and resources, we empower students to cultivate the skills, strategies, and behaviors of confident and independent learners.

The ASC is a student-friendly space that offers students a place to study, lounge, relax in between classes, meet with other students and faculty. Our knowledgeable and friendly team are here to make sure to connect our students with tutoring support and help direct students to other services available from the college. The ASC provides equity-minded support and utilizes culturally responsive practices to support student success.

We offer free in-person tutoring:

a.  Academic Success Center, Room L-101 for only English, grammar, and writing support

  • Hours of Operation: 10:00 a.m.-3:00 p.m., Monday-Thursday
  • ATTENTION: Closed on Fridays, weekends, and sanctioned holidays
  • There are study rooms and tables for individual or group use. There are tables, chairs, and dry erase boards and markers in the study rooms. You can access anatomy models, microscopes, and textbooks. You can use these resources on a drop-in basis. There is also a pay-for-print service for copies.

b.  Math Lab, Room M-210, for mathematics and statistics support

  • Dates of Operation:  June 15, 2026 to August 6, 2026
  • Hours of Operation: 10:00 a.m.-3:00 p.m., Monday-Thursday
  • ATTENTION: Closed on Fridays, weekends, and sanctioned holidays
  • Math support is provided on a drop-in basis. Independent learning, collaboration space, computers, and pay-for-print service for copies.

The ASC offers online tutoring via NetTutor.  NetTutor is available between June 15, 2026 and August 6, 2026. 

NOTE:  While some core subjects on NetTutor are available 24/7, the availability for other specialized subjects varies.  Please check the daily schedule of the subject that you need tutoring in.

NetTutor has one-on-one, online meeting, paper drop-off, and question drop-off.  NetTutor can be accessed by clicking here (or this link https://sdccd.instructure.com/enroll/MEAEEJ). You will be taken to a new page titled "Enroll in Miramar Tutoring". Click the "Enroll in Course" button on the right-hand side. Then, you will be on the front page of the Miramar Tutoring Canvas course. Click the "NetTutor" link on the left-hand side menu to access both NetTutor.

The assignment drop-off service will begin at 10:00 a.m., on Monday, June 15, 2026, and will stop at 3:00 p.m., on Tuesday, August 4, 2026 (excluding Fridays, weekends, and sanctioned holidays). 

After submitting a paper, you should expect feedback in 48 hours (turnaround time).  Please note that the 48 hours are during our hours of tutoring operation:  M-Th, 10:00 a.m.-3:00 p.m.  The 48-hour turnaround time excludes Fridays, weekends, and sanctioned holidays.  For example, a paper submitted on Thursday at noon should be returned to you at noon the following Tuesday.

E-mail a completed application and college transcript(s) to Donnie Tran at [email protected] .  Your transcript(s) must show a letter grade of B or higher in the courses you are interested in tutoring in.

Please do not attach additional attachments.  Documents such as letters of recommendation and resumes are not reviewed.

Must have successfully taken EDUC 100 or its equivalence before applying.  You cannot start work until you have EDUC 100 completed.


Here is what our screening/hiring process entails:
Step 1) Screen applications. Contact reference.
Step 2) Invite qualified applicants for an interview.
Step 3) Offer tutoring position to the successful applicant.
Step 4) Initiate SDCCD new hire paperwork.  Among the tasks, the successful applicant needs to get done fingerprinting and TB test and submit on the HR Web site a district's tutor application.
