Emergency Vehicle Operations Center Ribbon Cutting - Otay Mesa

Sheriff Bill Gore is pleased to announce the grand opening of a new training facility for first responders in the South Bay. A ribbon cutting for the Sheriff's Emergency Vehicle Operations Center (EVOC) will be held on:

Remarks will be delivered by Undersheriff Kelly Martinez, County Supervisor Nora Vargas, San Diego Police Chief David Nisleit and Miramar College President P. Wesley Lundburg, PhD.

Second Round of Fall CARES ACT Funding Available for Miramar College Students Via Edquity App

Miramar College is offering eligible students $4 million in Cares Act/HEERF funding for the Fall 2021 semester. In its second round of funding for the Fall 2021 term, the College will be distributing another $2.6 million in CARES Act funds to eligible students enrolled for the Fall 2021 term. Last month, the College distributed $1.4 million to 1,400 students in its first round of fall funding. Students must download the Edquity App to apply and receive funds.

Professor Tanya Hertz Nominated for Startup Champion of the Year Award

Professor Tanya Hertz, executive director of the REC Innovation Lab at San Diego Miramar College, has been nominated for the Startup Champion of the Year Award at San Diego's Startup Awards and Reception event held in late Oct. The Startup Awards and Reception was hosted by Alexandria and sponsored by AWS and Cox Business. At the event, high performance nominees were selected to win the awards of Investor of the Year, Startup Champion of the Year, Impact Company of the Year, Think Big Lifetime Achievement Award, and Startup of the Year.
