Two Miramar College Students Named 2022 Phi Theta Kappa All-California Award Winners

Two students from San Diego Miramar College where among the six San Diego Community College District students named 2022 Phi Theta Kappa (PTK) All-California Award Winners. 

Academic First team winners include Joshua Lin and YungYi Sun from Miramar College. Jeson Cornu from Mesa College earned a spot on the Second team. Third team winners include Thao Chung and Aleksandra Ristova-Sanyal from City College, and Christine Govas-Robert from Mesa College. 

HEERF Funding Now Available to Students for Spring Semester

Great news – as in previous semesters, Miramar College is utilizing HEERF funds to provide students with direct student aid.   

Jet Fuel Pantry Now Open

With a return to full campus operations, we are pleased to announce the reopening of the Jet Fuel Pantry. The Pantry is a wonderful place for students to access free food, gently used clothing, grooming items and other basic needs resources. Students can also access CALFRESH information.

The Jet Fuel Pantry is located on the second floor of the K1-Student Services Building in the student lounge. The Pantry will be open Monday-Thursday from 8:30am-4:30pm and Friday's from 8:30am-2pm.

Jets Men's Basketball Team Opens Playoffs March 1 at 7pm at Hourglass Fieldhouse

The Jets men's basketball team will host Saddleback College in the first round of the California Community College Athletic Association's Southern Regional Championships.  The game is set for Tuesday, March 1st with a 7pm tip-off.  There will be a fee for spectators as this is a playoff event. 

The Jets were 18-10 overall and 10-6 in Pacific Coast Athletic Conference play. The winner of the game will travel to West Los Angeles College (25-3) on Thursday, March 3. 

Borek Named Cooke Undergraduate Scholarship Semifinalist

Miramar College Associated Students Government President Edward Borek has been named a semifinalist for the highly competitive Cooke Undergraduate Transfer Scholarship. He is one of 440 students selected as a semifinalist. This year’s semifinalists were chosen from a pool of more than 1,200 applicants attending 180 community colleges in 35 states.

Through this award, the Foundation supports high-achieving community college students with financial need seeking to complete their bachelor’s degrees at selective four-year institutions.jkcf.org
