Placement Assistant and Milestones

The Placement Assistant is intended for students who have not been placed for English and Math yet. In most cases, students receive their Milestones by applying to Miramar. 

You may need to complete the Placement Assistant if:

  • You have no milestone levels
  • You were in high school while you applied to Miramar, and have since graduated

Students who have completed college level Math and English courses do not need to take the Placement Assistant.

 If you have English and/or MATH AP Scores/College Classes from outside SDCCD please schedule a meeting with a Counselor.

After completing the Placement, you will receive an email in 1-2 business days that contains your milestones/placement levels.

*Please note: the Placement Assistant cannot be paused or resumed, and you cannot go back to change an answer. Plan to complete it in one sitting. You will have an opportunity to review and change your answers before the final submission.

 

ELAC- English Language Acquisition

The ELAC GO assessment is intended for students if English is not your primary language, you are not very comfortable with English, or if you speak, read, and write your native language most of the time. 

  • The ELAC courses are designed to prepare students to read, write, speak and listen at a level that enables them to succeed in college courses.
  • If a student has completed the Placement Assistant and is given English courses, they may still opt to take the ELAC assessment.
  • If you want to start at the first level then you do not need to take the ELAC assessment. Students may choose to enroll in ELAC 15 without taking the assessment.

After completing ELAC GO, students will receive an email in 1-2 business days that contains their milestones/placement levels.

Completing Assessment

  • Once you are done, you will receive a copy of your placement levels. Your Placement levels will be posted within 2-3 business days to your student records. You may view them through your mySDCCD portal.
  • Once completed, schedule a meeting with a Counselor, to discuss your placement.
