San Diego Miramar College has seen a dramatic rise over the last two years in the number of students successfully securing admission into San Diego State University via transfer. Data provided by the San Diego Community College District shows that the College witnessed a 45% increase in the number of applicants accepted for admission from Fall 2017 over Fall 2019. As a result, the number of students intending to enroll also grew by 57%.

Sophomore men’s basketball player Blake Seits has been named the 2019 Pacific Coast Athletic Conference Male Student Athlete of the Year. It is the first such honor for any student athlete at San Diego Miramar College.

San Diego Miramar College received a $1,395,110.00 contract from the California Energy Commission to assist with the development of an alternative fuels and advanced vehicle technology workforce training program. The San Diego Community College District Board of Trustees accepted the contract at its June 13, 2019 board meeting.

Twenty-four year old Miramar College graduate Andres Guerra has become the second Veteran to transfer from Miramar College to Yale University in the past two years. Back in 2017, Summer Lee was admitted as part of the Eli Whitney Students Program. In fall 2019, Guerra will attend Yale University as part of the same program.

The Fall 2019 semester at Miramar College is fast approaching! This fall, Miramar College is gearing up to offer over 1,000 sections of its most popular courses. The Fall 2019 semester begins August 19. Here is a list of dates, times and links you should be aware before registration.

 Dr. Patricia Hsieh, president of San Diego Miramar College, is stepping down after 14 years of service to accept the superintendent/president position of  Hartnell Community College District in Salinas, CA. Dr. Hsieh will end her run as Miramar College president on Sept. 13, 2019.

San Diego Miramar College is one of 70 community colleges/districts across the state of California to be awarded Improving Online CTE (Career Technical Education) Pathways Grant funds. Miramar College will receive $250,000 to improve its development and delivery of online courses within its Business and Paralegal programs.

San Diego Miramar College diesel technology students Valentino Nevarez and Kevin Croan have been selected to compete in the American Trucking Association (ATA) and Truck Maintenance Council (TMC) Futuretech competition in Raleigh, NC Sept. 15-16. Both students, who are United State Marine Corps veterans, recently attended a “bootcamp” in Dallas, TX to train for the competition.

San Diego Miramar College has moved its food pantry from J-302, near the pool, to the student affairs lounge located on the second floor of the K-1 Student Services Building. The new food pantry occupies the one-time location of the campus Starbucks. The pantry’s hours of operation will be Monday-Friday 9am-1pm. Students are asked to bring a valid student ID and their own bags.
