We are excited to share that San Diego Miramar College will be launching the Puente Program for the 2026–2027 academic year. The Puente Project is a national award-winning program that, for more than 40 years, has helped increase the college-going rate of educationally underrepresented students across California. 

The Puente Project

Mission: to increase the number of students who enroll in four-year colleges and universities, earn college degrees and return to the community as mentors and leaders to future generations. The program is interdisciplinary in approach, with writing, counseling and mentoring components.
 

 

Program Benefits 
Students in Puente receive: 
    Linked English and Personal Growth courses taught from a Latinx/Chicanx perspective 
    A dedicated counselor 
    A supportive learning community 
    Professional mentors 
    Guidance preparing for transfer to universities 
    University field trips 
    Community-building events such as Noche de la Familia
