This Fall 2018, San Diego City, Mesa and Miramar Colleges are in the process of implementing a new student system: mySDCCD. On July 10, students who submitted a financial aid application for Fall 2018 were invited to check out the new mySDCCD portal to view their financial aid information only.

Free Farmers Market Sept. 12

It’s being called the Really Really Free Farmers Market and it is coming to San Diego Miramar College on Wednesday, Sept. 12 from 10am-2pm or until all the food is gone. The market will be held in front of the K1 Student Services building and will be open to everyone in the Miramar College community.

9/11 Remembrance Event

The Fire Tech program at San Diego Miramar College held its annual 9/11 Remembrance event on Tuesday, Sept. 11 at 9 a.m. in the courtyard of the R building. The ceremony was broadcast live on KUSI-TV news.

A ceremonial "last call" ringing of a fire bell took place to honor the 343 New York City firefighters lost that tragic day.

Fire Protection Technology professor Ron Edrozo discussed his deployment with the California Urban Search and Rescue Team 8 to the World Trade Center collapse. Edrozo is a retired captain from San Diego Fire and Rescue.

Boeing Hiring Event

 

For the second consecutive year, Boeing visited the Miramar College campus looking for qualified professionals to join the aerospace company. A Boeing hiring event took place Sept. 27 & Sept. 28. An informational presentation and pre-screening was held Thursday, Sept. 27 from 1pm-4:30pm in K1-202. Selected candidates were scheduled for interviews on Sept. 28.

Free Farmers Market Oct. 10

 

Round two of the Really Really Free Farmers Market will take place Wednesday, Oct. 10 from 9:45 a.m. until the food is gone. Produce will be made available to students, staff and faculty in front of the K-1 Student Services Building. Students are encouraged to bring their student ID and their own bags. 

Undocumented Student Week of Action Oct. 15-19

 

Miramar College will join over 70 California Community Colleges to celebrate Undocumented Student Week of Action Oct. 15-19.

The Week of Action is a statewide student-led campaign to advocate for a permanent solution to codify the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) program that includes a pathway to citizenship, as well as to provide support and resources to California’s undocumented student population.
