Alternative Placement Measures / Test Exemptions

San Diego Miramar College accepts certain alternative measures that can exempt you from the assessment process. Official copies of SAT,ACT, EAP, CAASPP, EPT and ELM test scores must be sent to the district student services department. As well, these test must have been completed within the last two years. Please allow approximately four weeks for the District to receive, evaluate, articulate and process your test scores. Also note, during busy periods it could take even longer. It is recommended that students wishing to use alternative assessment measures submit their test scores early. The district address is listed below.

Miramar accepts assessment tests from other California Community Colleges. Students who have completed an assessment test from another community college should bring their test results into the Counseling office for review. Please note assessment tests from out-of-state are not accepted.

Students are exempt from assessment if they have earned an Associates degree or higher, or have taken the equivalent English or math classes at another college or university. Students without a degree but with completed equivalent English or math classes will need to provide the district office with official college transcripts.

Students with qualifying scores from alternative tests, prior completion of college English or math, or assessment results from another California community college may utilize these measures for placement in English / math.
