Rene McKee Named President of Miramar College Foundation Board

Longtime Miramar College Foundation Board member René McKee has been selected to serve as the next president of the San Diego Miramar College Foundation Board of Directors. In a unanimous vote taken at the Feb. 19, 2025 foundation board meeting, McKee was elected to a 3-year term. She replaces Don Boas who served as interim president of the San Diego Miramar College Foundation Board since 2024.

An experienced marketing, community and public relations executive with forty years of success in the financial industry, McKee has served on the Miramar College Foundation Board since 2014. As Senior Vice President of Community and Public Relations for California Coast Credit Union, McKee was a founding board member of the Cal Coast Cares Foundation. In this role, she developed and oversaw the 501(c)(3) non-profit that provides scholarships for high school seniors, foster students, and college students as well as grants to educators, including to students and teachers at area schools in under resourced communities. Under her leadership, the Cal Coast Cares Foundation awarded over $1 million in scholarships and grants.  McKee retired from California Coast Credit Union in 2024.

Students not only benefit from her professional expertise, but also from her personal generosity. As a San Diego Miramar College Foundation Board member, she developed and funded the McKee Family Scholarship in 2016. This annual scholarship provides funding to Miramar College students who were raised in the Foster Youth system.

“It is my distinct honor to congratulate René McKee on her promotion to Foundation Board President,” said Dr. Wesley Lundburg, president of Miramar College. “Over the years, René has worked tirelessly on behalf of the foundation to raise funds that provide financial support to the students at Miramar College. She has come through with countless donations for our fundraising events and helped develop strategies for the long-term success of the foundation.”
