Congratulations to the Miramar College diesel technology duo of Anna Rigby and David Barrios-Diaz on their showing at this year's California Skills USA competition! Anna was awarded the silver medal and David was awarded the gold medal. David will now be representing the state of California at the Skills USA National Competition in Atlanta, GA in June 2024.
The Diesel Technology department has authored a Letter of Commendation for outstanding performance of duty while serving as members of the San Diego Miramar College, Diesel Technology, Diesel Skills Club from Fall 2023 to Spring 2024. Throughout this period, David and Anna tirelessly trained for the Skills USA State Competition in an exemplary and highly competent manner despite having jobs and being full-time students. The two participating in several Diesel Skills Club subject matter training sessions, including air conditioning system, air brakes system, welding, electrical troubleshooting, preventative maintenance inspections, disassembly and assembly of components per the manual, safety, driveline, suspension, to name a few. Anna also developed study guides to better help the Diesel Skills Club members train for future competitions. David and Anna’s professionalism and devotion to the club reflect keeping in line with the highest traditions of the Miramar College, Diesel Technology, Diesel Skills Club.
