Miramar College awarded deserving students just over $190,000 at its 30th annual scholarship awards ceremony held on campus April 16. Miramar College students, their guests and families, along with the College’s classified professional staff and faculty, San Diego Community College District officials and community partners gathered in L-105 to watch the celebration.
This year, the Miramar College Foundation administered 76 scholarships to 173 recipients totaling $190,710.
The Miramar College Foundation itself presented 41 scholarship awards totaling $98,857. Another 35 awards, totaling $91,853, were given by external donors.
“This is one of my favorite events held on campus each year,” said Dr. Wesley Lundburg, president of Miramar College. “I am extremely proud, that through the support of the Miramar College Foundation and the generosity of our community partners, we are able to offer this financial benefit to our deserving students and their families. Over the years, our students have demonstrated hard work and dedication toward their educational goals and, as a college, we are pleased to help lessen the financial burden through scholarship aid.”
The Miramar College Foundation, a California nonprofit public benefit corporation, was officially created on August 21, 1994 and is committed to supporting the diverse population of Miramar College students by raising scholarship funds.
The annual Scholarship Awards Ceremony is organized by the College’s Financial Aid and Scholarship Office.
