REMOTE RELATED:

Are all classes remote for Spring 2022?

  • SDCCD has announced that it will begin many in-person classes in an online format for the first three weeks (through Feb. 18th) of the spring semester. The decision will only affect classes at the colleges which can be temporarily transitioned to online.

Is the campus bookstore currently open?

  • The bookstore is currently providing both in-person window service and online ordering. 
  • Window service hours will be: 
    • Jan. 31– Feb. 4- Mon – Thu: 8:30am – 5:30pm, Fri: 8:30am – 12:00pm. 
    • Feb. 7– Feb. 11- Mon – Thu: 8:30am – 4:30pm, Fri: 9:00am – 12:00pm

Students can purchase their textbooks from the Miramar Bookstore website at www.bookstore.sdccd.edu/miramar/ or contact them at mirabook@sdccd.edu

How do I schedule an appointment with a counselor? (Services online only)

Is the library open for Spring 2022?

  • The library will remain in remote operations through February 18th. Please contact them at librarymira@sdccd.edu or for more information, please visit the library page at www.sdmiramar.edu/services/library.
  • Hours during Spring semester (beginning February 22nd) will be: Monday-Thursday from 9:00am to 4:00pm.

How can I reserve a laptop and library print books, such as textbooks? 

  • There will be a Learning Resources Distribution Event. During these events, students will be able to check out books, laptops, and other materials. Reservations required at www.sdmiramar.edu/services/library. Walk-in services not available.
    • Tuesday and Wednesday (Feb 8 and 9), 10:00a-2:00p, in the loading dock area of the LLRC Building
    • Tuesday and Wednesday (Feb 15 and 16), 10:00a-2:00p, in the loading dock area of the LLRC Building

How do I access tutoring services online?

What health & wellness services are still available for students during remote learning? 

  • Student Health Services will take student phone calls only for nursing, medical, and mental health questions. Please contact the Health Center with any specific questions or for scheduling appointments – (619)388-7881
  • Mental Health Counseling Center offers short-term mental health services and referrals to currently enrolled students at no cost. These services are given via videoconferencing. Please call to schedule an appointment.  Health Services hours are M-TH 9:00 a.m.-3:00 p.m. and Friday 9:00 a.m.-1:00 p.m.

Are there food services currently open?

  • Yes, please see the temporary hours of operation:
    • Coffee and C-Store: M-TH 8:00am-4:00pm
    • Grill: M-TH Lunch 10:00am-2:00pm & Dinner 3:00pm-4:30pm

What Food Security Programs are available to students remotely?

INSTRUCTIONAL MODALITY:

School of Liberal Arts

  • All on-campus classes will move to remote instruction.
  • Dean's Office will operate remotely M-F 8am–5pm and in-person M-W 10am–2pm.

School of Public Safety

  • All on-campus classes will remain as scheduled. No change.
  • Dean's Office will be open for in-person operations M-TH 8am–5pm and for remote operations on F 8am–5pm.

School of Business, Technical Careers, and Workforce Initiatives

  • All on-campus Aviation, Automotive, and Diesel classes will remain as scheduled. No change.
  • All on-campus Child Development classes will move to remote instruction.
  • All on-campus Business classes will move to remote instruction.
  • Dean's Office will be open for in-person operations M-W 730am–430pm and 8am–5pm for remote operations; TH/F 730am–5pm for remote operations only.

School of Mathematics, Biological, Exercise, and Physical Sciences

  • All on-campus Biology classes will remain as scheduled. No change.
  • All on-campus Chemistry classes will move to remote instruction.
  • All on-campus Exercise Science classes will remain as scheduled. No change.
  • All on-campus Health and Nutrition classes will move to remote instruction.
  • All on-campus Math classes will move to remote instruction.
  • All on-campus Medical Lab Technician Training classes will remain as scheduled. No change.
  • All on-campus Physical Science, Geology, and Astronomy classes will move to remote instruction.
  • All on-campus Physics classes will move to remote instruction.
  • Dean's Office will be open for in-person operations M/W/F 9am–2pm and T/TH 11am–6pm.
  • President’s Office: This office will operate remotely until February 22, and on campus as needed and established by appointment.

PARKING-RELATED:

On January 18, 2022 the requirement for having a Spring 2022 parking permit was reversed and students will no longer need to purchase a pass. Students are still to only park in designated Student lots.  Any student who has already purchased a parking pass will be refunded. Parking permits are not required.

Where do students park?                                                      

  • Students are permitted to park in unmarked spaces in Lot 1, Lot 2, and the parking garages. 

Where do I purchase my bus pass?

  • The Student Accounting Office will be selling semester bus passes beginning January 18, 2022 through February 25th, 2022. While the office works remotely, passes can be purchased from staff via email contact. Students may inquire with the accounting staff at mmaracctg@sdccd.edu regarding purchase.

CANVAS TECHNICAL SUPPORT:

I am having issues with Canvas. Who should I contact?

  • Canvas offers a 24/7 help hotline for students via online chat and by phone. To access the Canvas help chat, log into your canvas account and select the “help” option on the right hand side of the screen. Under this option, you will see “Chat with Canvas Support (Student)”. Select this option for assistance or call Canvas Support at: 1(844)612-7421

DEADLINE RELATED:

When is the last day to add a class?

  • For the primary 16 week schedule starting on 01/31/2022, the last day to add a class is Friday, February 11th, 2022

When is the last day to drop a class? Is there a deadline to get a refund?

  • Drop Deadline with no “W” recorded for 16-week classes starting on 01/31/2022 is Friday, February 11th, 2022. The Withdrawal Deadline for the primary session is Friday, April 15th 2022. The deadline for a refund is Friday, February 11th.

Complaints/Questions/Concerns:

If you receive this question: I have concerns and/or questions about the change in modality. Who can I speak to about the fact that I was recently dropped from my class(s) due to this change?    

  • You can direct the students to contact the department chairs/deans of the areas they have issues with to express their concern.  For the broader general complaints, they can be referred to Dean of Student Affairs.
