Science and Biotechnology Training Experiences Available for Intersession and Spring 2022

Miramar College has two Science training opportunities that are available for students in Intersession 2022 and Spring 2022. Both programs have a focus on providing training for students that are disproportionately impacted and/or military connected/veterans.

ALL EXPENSES PAID Biology 133

The Defense STEM Education Consortium funded by the U.S. Department of Defense is supporting a daytime Biology 133 section this spring 2022 at San Diego Miramar College. The course provides students with entry-level hands-on lab skills common to the biotechnology industry, such as transformation, restriction analysis of Deoxyribonucleic Acid (DNA), protein analysis, immunological applications and mammalian cell culture. Unit fees, books and supplies are covered for the students enrolled in this section of Bio 133 supported by the grant.

Supply Chain Experience Scholarship Program

The Supply Chain Experience (SCE) Scholarship Program will award $1500 scholarships to SDCCD students interested in a career in science and $3000 scholarships to current and incoming MLT students upon completion of the program. Scholarship candidates are required to participate in 50 hours of service learning where they will gain hands-on lab training, work experience, career awareness and resume guidance.
