We are pleased to announce a new partnership between Jewish Family Service of San Diego, through its Higher Education Legal Services (HELS) program, and Miramar College.
The HELS team is thrilled to provide free* immigration legal services to students, staff, and faculty at Miramar College and other campuses within the San Diego and Imperial Valley region [*USCIS fees not covered].The goal is to provide culturally competent, trauma-informed, and reliable expertise to the campus community. This includes, but is not limited to, general immigration eligibility intakes, family and emergency preparedness plans, and presentations on ever-changing immigration laws and policies.You can find more about their services, presentations, valuable resources, and schedule an appointment by visiting their web page at www.jfssd.org/HELS. No specific day has been assigned for Miramar appointments. Instead, you can select from any day and time available that best fits your schedule. All services are currently being provided via telephone and video conferencing.
While, the Miramar Dreamers Support Program has scaled back for summer, we haven't gone away! And yes, we will be hosting fewer events than typical, and we're giving our counselors a much-needed break, still Dean Barnard, Dean of Student Affairs and the administrator of this program, and I, Project Assistant Edward Borek, will be available all summer long to assist our undocu-community: students, staff, and faculty alike!
