Come out to Miramar College as we celebrate el día de los muertos—the day of the dead. This holiday is meant to honor the memories of those loved ones who have passed away through food, drink, and ritual. Celebrated throughout Mexico, observances of Día de Muertos have increasingly spread across Latin America and the U.S. spanning two days: November 1–2. Although, in some areas of Mexico the celebration can last up to a week! One key component of the day of the dead celebration is the construction of elaborate alters on which memorial offerings, called ofrendas, to a person are displayed including photos, votive candles, and favorite treats, foods, and drinks of the passed individual.
Come check out our alter and enjoy some FREE Mexican hot chocolate and traditional pastries in the K1 Student Services Building lobby.
