Public Safety Management Baccalaureate Degree
Program Modality:
Q: Will this program be offered fully online? Will there be any on campus components? What if I am a Veteran and want to use my GI Bill?
A: The program is primarily delivered online, offering maximum flexibility for students. However, there may be occasional in-person meetings or training sessions held on campus if needed.
For students planning on using their GI Bill Benefits, rest assured that the program's modality is structured to meet VA requirements and is fully VA-payable.
Ethnic Studies:
Q: I already took something similar elsewhere? I already hold a BA/BS Degree? Can this be waived or petitioned?
A: In California, for a course to fulfill the Ethnic Studies requirement, it must have been approved by the state at the time the student took the course. If the course was not approved at that time, it will not count toward fulfilling the Ethnic Studies requirement, even if the content seems relevant. In such cases, the student will need to complete a state-approved Ethnic Studies course to meet graduation requirements.
Students who have already earned a Bachelor's degree (BA or BS) from a regionally accredited institution are generally exempt from completing the ethnic studies requirement.
Holding Degrees non-Public Safety related:
Q: I already hold a degree, but in a non-related field, can I still be eligible? I also have lots of work experience, even though my degree is non-related?
A: Admission into the Baccalaureate of Science in Public Safety Management requires the completion of a recognized and accredited associate degree in public safety or a closely related field, as well as successful completion of English 205 or an equivalent course.
Non-Regionally Accredited Programs
Q: I already have units or a Public Safety degree, but the institution was not regionally accredited at the time I earned them?
A: San Diego Community College District (SDCCD) will only accept transfer credits and degrees from institutions that are regionally accredited. This means that to transfer credits or have any degree count towards the Baccalaureate of Science Degree in Public Safety Management at SDCCD, the credits or degree must come from a regional accrediting body, at the time the courses or degree were completed.

Credit for Prior Learning (CPL)/Credit by Exam (CBE):
Q: Will I be able to get credit for certain State certifications to avoid taking a required class? What about receiving credit for my general education classes?

-
Credit for Prior Learning: You can earn credits towards your degree by utilizing State certifications, which can fulfill major requirements and apply towards your degree.
-
