Vision Resource Center

What is the Vision Resource Center?

The Vision Resource Center, built on the Cornerstone platform, is the California community colleges’ online hub for learning and connecting. The content in place, and in development, is meant to support our work toward the Vision for Success goals. Professional Development training modules and events can be accessed and recorded within a user’s transcript, making tracking and reporting easier than ever.

The main features of the Vision Resource Center include:

  • LEARN - There are learning modules specific to the California Community Colleges reform work, and over 12,000 modules from LinkedIn Learning (now offering Lynda content) and Skillsoft to support broader professional development. “Essentials” pages provide overview information for the key topics at the heart of our reform work, such as Guided Pathways and Developmental Education Reform (AB 705), and help support system-wide understanding of these interrelated topics.
  • CONNECT - Within the virtual communities system professionals can connect with each other to share ideas and information or ask questions. Sharing resources, promising practices and lessons learned helps every college work more effectively toward the Vision for Success goals.
  • CONVENE - A calendar lists upcoming professional development workshops and events available to all system professionals. Events will be added on an ongoing basis as they are confirmed.

The Vision Resource Center Access Instructions

The Vision Resource Center is an online learning and collaboration platform for all professionals in the California Community Colleges. The Vision Resource Center provides access to a catalog of over 7,000 learning modules from Skillsoft and LinkedIn Learning (now offering all Lynda content).

To access The Vision Resource Center, you must first set up a personal account. The account will allow you to track your training in your “transcript” and will save your progress on courses until fully completed. Accounts can be created in as little as thirty minutes. The email used to create the account must be a valid email account within the California Community College System.

To create your account, follow these steps:

  1. To set up a Vision Resource Center account, go to: https://visionresourcecenter.cccco.edu/login
  2. Click on "Create an Account" located at the bottom of the page – be sure to skip the top. Everyone still needs an individual log in.
  3. You will then be taken to the registration screen – be sure to enter your name, your District email (not a personal email address), classification and either the general SDCCD location or one of the individual campuses listed. Add the password and click "I am not a robot." Click Register at the bottom of that screen.
  4. After you successfully complete your registration, you will receive a verification email from The Vision Resource Center to your SDCCD email address. Simultaneously, you are then redirected to the vision resource center home page.
  5. Once the verification email is received, click on this link and log in with the credentials that you just set up.
  6. This link will take to the list of trainings available to you.
  7. When you find the training you want, click launch and the course will begin.

What does full integration mean, and why are we doing it?

Full Integration means that we are establishing a portal for the District to the Cornerstone platform. Our local portal will be connected to the system-wide Vision Resource Center, and you will have access to both in one place. Employees will access the local portal using their network credentials, not the credentials used to access PeopleSoft.

Some of the additional features available within Cornerstone once SDCCD has fully integrated include:

  • College Welcome Page - Upon logging in you will arrive at your home page first, instead of the system-wide Vision Resource Center home page. There will be announcements, links, and other information most relevant to you.
  • Local Communities - We have the option to create communities for our college only. This could be for department collaboration, committee connection, or any group that wants a place to connect and share information and resources.
  • Local Events and Workshops on Calendar - We can add our own professional development activities to the calendar. From there, college users can sign up for events and track them in their transcripts. There are also features to help us collect feedback on these events for continuous improvement.
  • Assign Training - Managers can assign development and/or compliance training to employees, including the California Community College modules.

What will this change for me?

Once fully integrated, some processes will update over time. There may be changes related to professional development, compliance training, campus communications, etc. Full information on any such changes will be communicated as needed. We will also provide access to trainings and how-to guides to help you learn the platform.

Flex training for Faculty members will not change. Faculty will continue to report Flex hours through the campus Flex sites. This resource changes what you can do. The Vision Resource Center provides a space to connect with, collaborate with, and support our colleagues across the state. Moderators within the system-wide communities will help answer questions and share important information. There are thousands of learning modules to help you develop skills and improve understanding of key topics. This tool empowers you and our District in new ways that we will learn together.
