Dr. Roberta C. Baade Joins Miramar College Foundation Board

Dr. Roberta C. Baade has been selected as the newest community board member to serve on the San Diego Miramar College Foundation Board of Directors. In a unanimous vote taken at the Feb. 21 board meeting, Dr. Baade was elected to a 3-year term.

Dr. Baade is no stranger to the San Diego Miramar College campus. She was the wife of former Miramar College president, the late Dr. George Yee. Yee was the first full-time president of the college, serving from 1977-1989.

Dr. Baade has over 25 years of leadership experience in the field of Human Resources, that included the disciplines of training and development, labor relations, international human resources, benefits and compensation for numerous companies.

She served as Vice President of Human Resources at General Dynamics Space Systems Division and Vice President of Human Resources at Sunrise Medical before joining Jenny Craig, Inc.

Dr. Baade retired in 2006 from Jenny Craig, Inc. after 8 years as Vice President of Human Resources.

She taught for a number of years at Pepperdine University’s Graduate School in the MBA program and graduated with her Ph.D. from the University of Colorado. An alumni of community college herself, Dr. Baade stated, “I think that community colleges play a crucial role in education by providing accessible and affordable pathways to higher learning. They serve diverse populations, offering a chance for individuals to acquire skills, pursue higher education, and contribute to their communities' social and economic development. I am honored to serve on Miramar College’s Foundation Board.”

“It is such a pleasure to welcome Dr. Baade to our Foundation Board,” said Dr. Wesley P. Lundburg, president of Miramar College. “I am not sure I have ever met someone from outside the organization with such a passion for Miramar College and its mission of serving students. Dr. Baade was present in Miramar College’s earliest years and helped lay the groundwork for the college as it stands today. She will make a wonderful addition to the board.”

The Miramar College Foundation, a California nonprofit public benefit corporation, was officially created on August 21, 1994 and is committed to supporting the diverse population of Miramar College students by raising scholarship funds.

Dr. Baade’s term begins immediately.
