Open registration for the spring semester at the San Diego Community College District (SDCCD) begins December 6. Students can choose from thousands of classes in more than four hundred academic programs at San Diego City, Mesa, and Miramar colleges, and the College of Continuing Education.
For the first time since March 2020, the district will return to normal, in-person operations this spring and offer a full schedule of in-person, hybrid and online classes. Face coverings will be required for everyone at indoor locations, and students will be required to be vaccinated or have an approved exemption before they can enroll in in-person classes.
“At $46 per credit unit at City, Mesa, and Miramar colleges and no-cost, noncredit classes at the College of Continuing Education, students can prepare for good-paying jobs at an excellent value,” said SDCCD Chancellor Carlos O. Turner Cortez. “Cybersecurity, healthcare, biotechnology and automotive are among degree and certificate program options, in addition to many transfer programs.”
The SDCCD recently announced it was forgiving $3.9 million in debt for about 11,000 students and is encouraging them to consider restarting their educations. The district’s colleges are also offering a full complement of in-person student services this spring including its libraries, counseling, financial aid, tutoring, student health centers, on-campus food service and food pantries offering healthy food options.
To assist those with financial need, emergency funding and support services, such as relief grants and laptops, are available. Collectively, the district’s colleges have distributed over $20 million in direct aid. Students are encouraged to apply when they register for classes.
The spring semester at City, Mesa, and Miramar colleges begins January 31. Classes at the College of Continuing Education begin February 2.
