Miramar College Establishes Equity Summit featuring the Dr. Constance M. Carroll Lecture Series and 2021 Associated Student Government Art for Equity Scholarship & Art Contest

Starting in Fall 2021, San Diego Miramar College will establish an annual Equity Summit featuring “The Constance M. Carroll Lecture Series.”  The Summit will also feature the 2021 ASG Art for Equity Scholarship and Art Contest in connection with the annual Equity Summit to honor the newly retired Chancellor of the San Diego Community College District. Dr. Carroll served 17 years as the District Chancellor and was employed by SDCCD for 24 years. She retired from her position on June 30, 2021.

The Equity Summit will be a two-day event held on the evening of Thursday, October 28 and during the day on Friday, October 29.  The evening event will feature the lecture series with Chancellor Emerita Carroll and Associated Student Government will present the winner of the Student Art Contest.  On Friday, October 29, Chancellor Emerita Carroll will provide the plenary address and the campus will engage in several presentations and workshops connecting to the theme,  Leading for Equity - Embracing Diversity and Community at Miramar College.

“Dr. Carroll not only meant so much to Miramar College, but she meant so much to the San Diego region,” said Dr. Wes Lundburg, president of San Diego Miramar College. “Her leadership led to the growth of the College and provided so many more opportunities for area students and the community. This is the least we could do to thank her for her support over the years.”

Dr. Carroll's tenure as Chancellor included the transformation of District campuses, making higher education more accessible, and helping students expand their opportunities while attending community college.
