Athletics Spectator Update Sept. 8

To our Miramar College Community-

Due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, access to San Diego Miramar College campus and sporting venues is currently limited. Currently San Diego Miramar College will allow pre-screened student-athletes, coaches, and support staff.

San Diego Miramar College will also allow spectators at outdoor events.  Spectators must wear their masks and maintain a social distance of at least six feet from one another with the exception of family groups. Spectators will also maintain social distance from all athletes and staff without exception.

The College has taken steps to ensure our campuses and facilities are safe, including enhanced safety protocols and increased disinfection of common areas and high-touch surfaces.

San Diego Miramar College follows all State, County, NCAA, and CCCAA safety guidance for athletic contests. While on our campus, all student-athletes, staff, and spectators from both home and away teams are expected to follow the safety precautions outlined in The San Diego Miramar College COVID-19 Prevention Plan . These include the following:

  • Indoor mask-wearing, regardless of vaccination status
    • Required whenever someone is not actively engaging in their activity on the court/field
    • Social distancing of at least six feet, both indoors and outside – including huddles, timeouts, and when sitting on team benches
  • Proper hygiene etiquette – frequent handwashing, no shared water bottles, and no spitting on fields or indoor facilities

We are all very excited to have athletics back on our school campuses, and we appreciate your help in keeping our student-athletes safe. Should you have any COVID-related questions or concerns, please feel free to contact me via email.

Sincerely,

Nick Gehler
