It’s going to take more than a pandemic to keep Miramar College from providing first-class service to its students. Exhibit A: Virtual Welcome Days, two weeks of beginning-of-the-semester, online sessions allowing students to engage with the college community and speak directly with a program or department representatives.
“We want to make sure our students feel welcomed and feel prepared and are greeted by a friendly face,” said Chantal Hernandez, a Senior Student Services Assistant at the Miramar College Outreach Office. “Even though we’re virtual, that doesn’t mean our work has to stop.”
The informational Zoom sessions for new and returning students are set for February 2-4 and February 9-11. Students can sign up to receive a schedule of sessions at tinyurl.com/WelcomeSpring21. Schedules will be emailed to students the week of January 25. Virtual Welcome Days for the Fall 2020 semester comprised of 30, half-hour, informational sessions on topics including tutoring support, veterans benefits, Disability Support Programs & Services, mental health counseling, and student success. “Students need to know we are there for them,” Hernandez said.
