It’s not what anyone had envisioned when the 2019-2020 academic year began, but San Diego Miramar College hopes to make the best of a bad situation for its graduates. Unable to host an in-person commencement ceremony due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Miramar College will host a virtual ceremony to celebrate its almost 1250 graduates.
The virtual ceremony will begin at 1pm (PST) on Friday, July 17. A link to the ceremony will be live just before 1pm (PST) and can be found at http://sdmiramar.edu/commencement2020.
This July, Miramar College will confer 1,228 associate degrees. Included in that total is 590 students who will be graduating with an Associates Degree for Transfer (ADT). Another 565 certificates of achievement will be awarded.
“In these unprecedented times, we are very proud of each and every one of our students who stayed the course and completed their degree programs under such challenging circumstances,” said Wesley Lundburg, president of San Diego Miramar College. “I can’t begin to express to the graduates how much I admire their perseverance.”
Of note, the College will graduate 27 foster youth and 119 active duty military/veteran/dependents. Two hundred-fifty-four first generation college graduates will make up 20% of the 2020 Miramar College graduating class.
