San Diego Miramar College is one of 70 community colleges/districts across the state of California to be awarded Improving Online CTE (Career Technical Education) Pathways Grant funds. Miramar College will receive $250,000 to improve its development and delivery of online courses within its Business and Paralegal programs.
“The goal is to improve and expand our online pathways as it relates to our Entrepreneurship and Paralegal courses,” said Jesse Lopez, dean of the School of Business, Technical Careers and Workforce Initiatives at San Diego Miramar College. “This will provide the College with an excellent opportunity to serve our distance education students.”
The College will use the funding specifically to provide professional development for its online instructors, improve instructional design and create added courses for Miramar College distance education students.
Grant applications were reviewed and competitively scored based on meeting minimum required objectives and criteria including project preparation, statement of need, alignment with CCCCO goals, overall description, project feasibility, budget and timeline, proposed reporting and evaluation, and post-grant commitment. Improving Online CTE Pathways grant awards will not exceed $500,000 per college and awardees must expend their funds by the end of the 2019-2020 fiscal year.
