Students from the San Diego Unified School District spent Friday, Oct. 19 on the Miramar College campus learning about all the wonderful Career Education programs that Miramar College has to offer. The intent of the "Discover Your Drive" event was to strengthen the College’s K-14 CTE pathways by exposing students to our amazing advanced transportation programs.
School of Business, Technical Careers, and Workforce Initiatives, Dean Jesse Lopez welcomed the students. Afterwards, student ambassadors from the Miramar College Outreach Office guided the students to the demonstrations and workshops. Faculty provided career exploration opportunities, which included interactive demonstrations and hands-on learning opportunities.
Students attended faculty-led workshops that included demonstrations and hands-on learning activities.
Around noon, Dean Lopez and Associate Dean Benjamin Gamboa rolled up their sleeves and handed out pizza slices and bottles of water to students. Students that attended were from the following high schools: Morse, Clairemont, Madison, Crawford and Mira Mesa.
The event was sponsored by Mossy Toyota. Dale Snow, director of After Sales at Mossy Toyota, and Miramar College alumnus, brought a number of Toyota cars for display.
