Miramar College Receives $1,500 Grant from US Bank

The Miramar College Business Club has received a $1,500 grant from US Bank for program support of the entrepreneurship initiatives planned by the members of the student organization.

The Miramar College Business Club will apply the grant toward a scholarship that will allow for its members to support a community based project. Details on the scope of the community project will be determined at a later date.

“The Miramar College Business Club’s mission in part is to ‘encourage personal and professional improvement and a life distinguished by honorable service to humankind’,” said David Wilhelm, assistant professor of Business at San Diego Miramar College and faculty advisor to the Miramar College Business Club. “These scholarships will be used to recognize the contributions made by our students in the community and serve to develop their skills and talents as future business leaders.”

The Miramar College Business Club has 60 active members who meet monthly on campus and share a common purpose to promote the academic study of business and apply knowledge gained in the classroom in the local community. Last year, a partnership was formed to support the marketing efforts of SAY San Diego, a non-profit organization that provides a range of San Diego children's programs and services that enable youths to realize their potential. The club has volunteered at the Feeding America Food Bank and has hosted educational workshops on campus for the community in promoting financial literacy and entrepreneurship.
