Archie Medrano

Bio

I am Dr. Archie Medrano.  This Summer 2024, I am teaching Math 151 (Calculus with Analytic Geometry II), which is one of my favorite courses to teach!  I have taught it eight (8) times (more than any other course) at Mesa College!  I took AP Calculus AB and AP Calculus BC at Coronado High School and then took Calculus II (A+) and Calculus III (A+) at USD.

In Spring 2024, I taught Math 255 (Differential Equations) here at Miramar College.  Math 255 is another one of my favorite courses to teach!  My first exposure to differential equations was when I took a differential equations course at the University of San Diego (USD) during my junior year as an undergraduate student (math major).  Then, in graduate school at the University of California San Diego (UCSD), I was a teaching assistant for multiple quarters of Math 20D (Introduction to Differential Equations).  It became my favorite class to TA for!  On my first semester (Spring 2015) teaching at San Diego Mesa College, one of the two classes I taught was Math 255!  I also taught the class there in Summer 2018 and Summer 2020.  I will also be teaching Math 255 again here at Miramar College in Fall 2024!

Here are the courses I taught at Mesa College: Math 38 (Pre-Algebra), Math 46 (Elementary and Intermediate Algebra), Math 104 (Trigonometry), Math 116 (College and Matrix Algebra), Math 118 (Math for the Liberal Arts Student), Math 119 (Elementary Statistics), Math 141 (Precalculus), Math 150/151/252 (Calculus with Analytic Geometry I/II/III), Math 245 (Discrete Mathematics), Math 254 (Introduction to Linear Algebra), and Math 255 (Differential Equations).

Here are the courses I taught at San Diego State University (SDSU): Math 118 (Topics in Mathematics), Math 254 (Introduction to Linear Algebra), Math 303 (History of Mathematics), and Math 520 (Algebraic Structures).

I earned my bachelor's degree in mathematics (with a minor in computer science) from USD and my doctoral degree (Ph.D.) in mathematics (field: number theory) from UCSD.
