Please join us for our 2nd Annual Equity Summit scheduled for Thursday, October 27th in the evening.
This years Dr. Constance M. Carroll Lecture Series will feature Dr. Luke Lara as our keynote. Dr. Lara is a prominent leader for change in California's community colleges, and is "guided by an ethic of love, social justice, and equity." He has served as Academic Senate President and leader for Guided Pathways at MiraCosta College and is a graduate of SDSU’s doctoral program in Educational Leadership. He is an Ecuadorean immigrant who grew up in Minnesota as a low-income, ESL student. Dr. Lara will speak on the theme, Building Community through Cultural Humility.
As Miramar College works to center equity, the Summit will highlight cultural humility as a foundation to building community. The Miramar Leading for Equity, Antiracism, and Diversity (LEAD) Office, will highlight programs and services available to the community.
