Miramar College student Roman Cresto has been named to the 2025 Phi Theta Kappa All-California Academic Team. Roman is a 25-year-old entrepreneur pursuing a degree in business or economics. Passionate about AI and technology, he strives to create innovative businesses that drive meaningful impact. This fall, he is transferring to a four-year university, where he plans to refine his skills and expand his network. After graduation, he aims to enter the world of private equity, leveraging his entrepreneurial experience to invest in and scale groundbreaking companies.
Cresto is among 110 California community college students recognized by Phi Theta Kappa, an international honor society that has helped millions of high-achieving college students reach their full potential. Awardees are selected based on their grades, leadership, and community service. A second Miramar College student was recognized but asked not to be named.
“The hard work and dedication of these students demonstrate their academic excellence, making them a symbol of hope for the future and the success of our community colleges,” Larry Galizio, Ph.D., President and CEO of the Community College League of California. “For this reason, the League is honored to recognize the All-California Academic Honor Roll honorees with a gift of medallions and certificates.”
Phi Theta Kappa, also known as PTK, recognizes the academic achievement of college students and provides opportunities for its members to grow as scholars and leaders. Established in 1918, PTK has grown to more than 3.5 million members in the United States and worldwide. Building on the success of the national All-USA Team Program, PTK launched the All-State Academic Team Program to provide recognition at the state level for top community college students.
Those selected represent some of the best of the 2 million students enrolled in California's 116 community colleges. All-California First, Second and Third Teams will be announced in mid-April. Last year, six SDCCD students were recognized by PTK.
