Math Department Challenge Exam Information

Here is the process to take a math challenge exam:

When Taking the Exam:

  • Please bring your photo ID when you take the exam.
  • You have 2 hours to take the challenge exam.
  • Scientific calculators are allowed. I can provide a scientific calculator for you to use.
  • Formula sheets are NOT allowed. For the Trigonometry and Precalculus Challenge Exams, please know your UNIT CIRCLE.
  • Show your work on the exam to receive credit.
  • It will be graded within 48 hours.
  • All questions are equal value.
  • You can only take the exam once. You cannot retake or try again next week or next semester, etc.
  • You must schedule a date for the challenge exam by emailing Julia McMenamin (jmcmenam@sdccd.edu).

Location for Challenge Exam:

  • Location: You will come to the Miramar Math Lab (M210). M210 is located on the 2nd floor of the M building on the Miramar Campus. If you are in the M building and you walk up the stairs, M210 is the glass doors on the left (near the bathrooms). 
  • There is a parking structure (G-3) right next to the M building. If you go to the second floor of the parking structure, you will see parking for students. Please see the Campus Map. You can use this address in Google Maps to get to the parking structure: 9345 Hillery Drive, San Diego, CA 92126.
  • There is also a transit center located right next to the M building.
  • Please display a parking pass. You will need to pay for parking. More information about parking is located here.
  • You must schedule a date for the challenge exam by emailing Julia McMenamin (jmcmenam@sdccd.edu).
